Webinar - "Data in Europe: Ageing"
CESSDA hosted a free webinar introducing data across Europe for researching ageing.
Participants learned about key studies including major longitudinal and cross-national studies such as the Survey of Health, ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA) and The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).
The webinar included guest speakers from SHARE and Gateway to Global Aging Data, who gave an overview of these resources and their research potential:
- Survey of Health, ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is a cross-national panel database of microdata on health, socio-economic status and social and family networks of individuals. SHARE currently covers 27 European countries and Israel.
- Gateway to Global Aging Data offers tools for navigating and analysing the international family of Health and Retirement studies. Tools include user-friendly harmonised datasets and codebooks, interactive graphs and tables, a search engine to find survey questions and a concordance for finding comparable survey measures across different waves and studies.
There was also a practical overview of European social science data services.
The webinar lasted approximately one hour with time for questions.
