Keynote Session 1
Social Science Data for Societal Change
Day 3
–
Wednesday, 17 June 2026 16:30 – 17:15 CET
Media City Bergen, Atlantis Auditorium, lower level
To celebrate CESSDA's 50th anniversary, this keynote reflects on the role of open science, the FAIR principles, and high-quality social science data in accelerating societal progress. Taking the Norwegian experience as a starting point and drawing on perspectives from both research practice and statistical infrastructure, it explores how sustained work on data documentation, standardization, and accessibility has expanded the scope for research and policy, and how ongoing digitalization is opening new opportunities while raising fundamental questions of privacy, trust, and social license.
