About the Conference

Bergen City Centre

This conference marks the 50th anniversary of CESSDA. It celebrates its impact on open science and open data in the European Research Area and beyond.

The four-day conference programme is anchored in CESSDA’s strategic pillars (2023–2027) of Data, People, and Landscape. The conference is an opportunity for scientific and policy voices to ask bold questions, strengthen synergies, and set the course for a future-ready European Research Area.

The conference aims to foster meaningful dialogue about data across disciplines, institutions, and borders. It presents an opportunity to explore how data services, research infrastructures, and collaborations can evolve to meet the needs of data users in an era of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

The conference is both a celebration and a call to action to build a more resilient, inclusive, and future-ready European research data ecosystem.

Key Questions the Conference Aims to Address

  • How can CESSDA better support evidence-based policymaking through open, trustworthy, and interoperable data services?

  • How can CESSDA engage the next generation of researchers and data professionals in building sustainable, FAIR, and trustworthy data ecosystems?

  • What models of collaboration (across research infrastructures, funding partners, and international networks) are needed to shape the future of the European Research Area?

  • What does it mean to be “future-ready” as a research infrastructure? What concrete steps must CESSDA take to lead the way forward?
