Summary

The EU Horizon 2020 EOSC Future project is launching a workshop in Ohrid, North Macedonia. The goal of this training event will be to increase the uptake of EOSC services and resources among research communities, with a focus on the Western Balkans and Ukraine. This event will also build on the work, and training materials, of the NI4OS-Europe project.

EOSC Future training workshop in North Macedonia

Description

This workshop will take place along the scenic shores of Lake Ohrid from 11-13 September.

Parallel sessions will cover different topics related to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Experts from a wide cross section of the EOSC landscape, including the EOSC Future project itself, will provide the training.

We expect that this workshop will be of interest to a wide variety of stakeholders, but particularly researchers based in the Western Balkans and Ukraine, who want to harness the power of EOSC for their own work or share their work related to EOSC, whether that is data, services or software. Participants in research support or funding roles are also welcome.

Thematic focus

The full programme will be made available in the next month, but will cover the following topics and more:

  • EOSC Core services
  • EOSC Portal
  • Onboarding
  • Legal and security policies
  • EOSC Future Key Exploitable Results

Please note that the agenda is still being finalised and is subject to change, so check back here soon for more details!

Selection criteria

  • Candidates will be selected to reflect roughly even distribution from across the seven countries to which this training is being offered: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine.
  • The selection will prioritise gender balance and diversity, where possible.
  • Selection will be weighted towards individuals that can actively demonstrate that they will use what they learn in the short-term, i.e., that they will engage with EOSC.

Language
All sessions will be delivered in English.

Accommodation and travel costs
Accommodation will be covered by the EOSC Future project for selected participants (selected participants will also be able to have travel costs reimbursed).
