Spotlight on the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research

Sikt develops and delivers services for education and research that makes life easier for students and employees. Norway is a member and host of CESSDA ERIC. Hear from Sikt Product Manager, Data Management Bodil Agasøster.

The CESSDA Country Spotlight series showcases national service providers. We interviewed representatives of the national service providers, dear members of the CESSDA community. We asked them about the value CESSDA provides their data archive and vice versa. 

The Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research 

Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (SIKT) was established on 1 January 2022 through a merger between NSD (Norwegian Centre for Research Data AS), Uninett AS and Unit – the Directorate for ICT and Joint Services in Higher Education & Research.
Sikt aims to ensure that everyone working in the education and research sector has access to secure, stable and comprehensive services. To achieve this goal SIKT provides shared, value-adding and trustworthy services for education and research.

The organisation is a public administrative body under the Ministry of Education and Research and has approximately 400 employees across its head office in Trondheim and additional offices in Bergen and Oslo.

“We benefit a lot from the metadata collaboration and the collaboration on calls for proposals. CESSDA Facilitates a number of European projects and we have benefitted by taking part in the SSHOC project” Bodil Agasøster, Product Manager, Data Management at SIKT.
