Forschungsdatenmanagement Reloaded: Open Data und die Zukunft des Forschungsdatenmanagements in den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften

The networking meeting Research Data Management Reloaded: Open Data and the Future of Research Data Management in the Social Sciences and Humanities targets research data management officers of universities and research institutes in German-speaking countries. It aims to bring together such representatives for a systematic knowledge exchange. This involves a review of Open Data requirements and related infrastructure, e.g. in terms of best practice guidelines, data repositories or data registration (persistent identifiers), as well as of resources to assist researchers in processing Open Data, such as the FOSTER Toolkit or the CESSDA Data Management Expert Guide. Based on this, participants will discuss recommendations for future action and networking in order to promote research and research data of their research institutes.

Nowadays, Open Access to research data is more and more often required by funders, academic journals and (non-)university research institutions. Open Data is not only a matter of good scientific practice, it also enables replicability of research findings and promotes the reputation of researchers and research institutes. To assist their researchers processing Open Data, more and more institutes implement an appropriate data infrastructure, such as Research Data Management Officers. Many of these officers are newcomers who need to be familiar with a wide variety of disciplines as well as a wide variety of (research) data.
